Welcome!
Hello! Welcome to healthydoctorgirl blog!
My name is Dr. Alexandra Potock DO, and I am a board certified internal medicine physician in the Pittsburgh, PA area.
I embarked on the journey to help others many years ago. In recent times, I have had the misfortune of personally experiencing medical ailments (more on this in my first blog post) that have changed my life. These experiences combined with my medical expertise has further intensified my desire to help others outside of my usual daily clinical practice.
Topics include
-nutritional and sustainable plant slanted food/meal ideas
-techniques for stress management
-sustainable exercise routines for all levels
-ways to improve sleep
-the need for changing our lifestyle as we go through the "seasons" of life to maintain health and wellness
-and much more!

The Full Story
I am a dedicated internal medicine physician with a passion for bridging the gap between science and everyday life. Inspired to become a doctor from a young age—when I used a toy doctor’s kit and Skittles doubled as "medication"—I turned that childhood dream into a meaningful career in medicine.
Originally from Weirton, WV, I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Biology with a minor in Communications at West Virginia University. I obtained my medical degree from the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine and completed an Internal Medicine residency at UPMC Mercy. Beginning with a career in Hospital Medicine, I later transitioned to primary care, where my focus expanded to include Lifestyle Medicine and Culinary Medicine.
Passionate about empowering patients to embrace sustainable habits that support both personal health goals and well-being, I am committed to integrating evidence-based approaches to nutrition, exercise, sleep, and lifestyle into patient care. I strive to inspire individuals to make informed, practical choices that enhance their overall health and quality of life.

Mission
As a physician, I am committed to empowering individuals to achieve optimal health and well-being by integrating evidence-based lifestyle and culinary medicine into patient care. Through education, personalized guidance, and compassionate support, I strive to inspire sustainable habits that enhance physical, mental, and emotional health. My goal is to partner with patients on their journey to wellness, addressing the root causes of illness and fostering a balanced, vibrant life.
Vision
A world where every individual thrives in optimal health through empowered choices, sustainable habits, and holistic well-being guided by the principles of lifestyle medicine.
